We liked our guide as he was very nice. Also, whenever I emailed or called the company, I got a quick response. We booked a private half-day tour of Mesa Verde. There were many issues. We were told could meet in the park until the actual day of the tour when we were told only people who stay in the park could meet inside the park (it worked out but was stressful). We were told must sign waiver in advance. I kept saying that it was not attached to email and kept getting same argument that it wasā€”until someone realized there was no waiver for our particular tour. We were told we would be in small vehicle since only 2 of us. When driver arrived, we were in huge bus that reeked of cigarette smoke. I have never been on a tour that smelled of smoke like that. Our guide was nice but kept telling us he recently came from another city so learned what he knew from utube and reading. We felt we could have just read the info ourselves- considering we spent quite a bit for a private tour. When we got confirmation email the day before the tour, the address we were told to go to was not where we had agreed to meet. They said this was because we technically were not allowed to meet in park, but since we had no idea where we were going, I feel that for the price spent on private tour, they could have put the correct address on our confirmation. Again, it worked out- but caused more stress. Finally, one of the highlights of Mesa Verde is Cliff House. It was closed. I totally understood this was no oneā€™s fault but normally the company provides tickets for guests to see it. We did not know that we could have purchased our own tickets to see another dwelling- we would have tried to do so if knew that was an option. I did not know to ask about this since have never been in the area or worked with this company. We loved Mesa Verde but would NOT recommend this company.

I am sorry to read of your experience being less than stellar and would have been happy to make it right. For all our future guests, simply talk to the owner or a manager! We are good, real good, but I don't know of anyone who bats 1000%. Still, it is our goal. I feel some points should be addressed. We have been dealing with changes from the park concerning the cliff dwellings, construction and COVID regulations since June of 2020. We post these updates in all of our communications and on the website. I apologize that it was unclear for your group. Accommodating special requests can add stress for both us and our guests but meeting in the park was confirmed 7 days before your tour. And I know none of our vehicles smell like cigarettes and your guide has asthma so that certainly didn't happen. Yes, Rowan is a seasoned guide from Yellowstone and has been studying Mesa Verde for a couple months and I agree it is awkward to emphasize that but I think you will agree you want a guide who is always studying their subject. Nonetheless, I appreciate your input!

The history of the cliff dwellings and surrounding area was very interesting. Our guide hadn't been in the area very long but studied the park and was able to give us enough information to make the trip memorable. It was difficult to hear him while on the road because he was speaking towards the windshield and there was no microphone or speaker system on the 12 passenger bus. Also, the bus was advertised as air conditioned...it was not.

I am sorry to hear your experience was average and encourage any of our guests to speak with management or the owners when you are less than pleased. Half the a/c did fail and was immediately repaired. We also don't want the guide speaking while driving and that will be addressed with Rowan. There is plenty of time to talk at all of the stops. I appreciate you taking time to let us know your concerns.

Rowan was a great guide! Enjoyed our trip to Mesa Verde. Learned more through a guide than I would have on my own. Great trip
