The lovely wife and I recently spent an impromptu weekend in Atlanta. Not sure how to spend our Sunday afternoon, we poked around the internet looking for inspiration and we found John's tour. Having booked it at the last minute (late the night before), we weren't sure what we were in for. We needn't have worried. We had perfect spring weather. We wore our comfortable walking shoes. And once we met John (a fascinating guy), we knew we had made the right choice. Let's face it: you can't throw a rock in Atlanta without hitting a top notch place to eat. The point was to get out of our comfort zone and let someone else show us something that we wouldn't have found on our own. If this describes you, then treat yourself to John's walking and eating tour of midtown Atlanta. Yes, the food choices were well thought out. Yes, the walking distance was doable (you'll get about 5,000 steps doing his tour). Yes, he is a charming and informative advocate for his neighborhood! I particularly enjoyed the pride that John showed in his midtown digs (he lives right in midtown). If you thinking about a meal at "The Varsity", you would be better off walking through the place and enjoying the nostalgia, but do your gut a favor and skip the food (ugh). Luckily John skipped the Varsity and instead showed us several of the neighborhood's foodie treasures. Do yourself a favor and come hungry, and save room for John's dessert stop at the end. Thanks for a great afternoon, John! Keep doing what you do, and come see us in Austin - We'll show you some amazing food finds right here in our Back Yard!

Wow, Skott! Great review! And when my sweet Jeri and I head to Austin, I'll shoot you an email and you can give us a grand tour of your fabulous neighborhood! Gott love me some Austin food! Be sure to make up some stories! It's what I do! Yep! TA readers...no more tours that include the Varsity! Starting my adventure with a chili dog just ain't right!! How about starting with the World's Best Burger" hidden away in a really local watering spot?! I'm sure Skott would agree that that was when I get the hook into all my guests and off we go!! Lots of yummy food! Lots of great fun! Thanks, Skott, for taking a moment to share your experience! My best! John

John, the owner/operator of Peachtree Food Tours, is engaging, informative, and charming. He knows mid-town Atlanta inside and out and has chosen a diverse group of restaurants to sample. It is a delightful way to spend part of your day!

Thanks J.!! I've got to agree with "a delightful way to spend part of the day!" The gentle stroll up and down Peachtree Street tasting and sipping and laughing...and I think there was some learning!! I love my Midtown neighborhood and showing it off with its 60+ restaurants has not one element of "work" for me. Everyone is smiling as I make up one story after another! The challenge is separating fact from bits of flat out made up stuff! Just part of the fun!! You and the lovely Mrs.don't live that far away so don't be strangers! Get out that map that I gave you and start exploring all the dining options. Send me a note before you return and I'll add the new restaurants that just opened!! There's a bunch!! My Best To You Both!! John

Make this your first Midtown experience! John is a fantastic tour guide with plenty of stories to tell about Atlanta's history. He also knows some of the best spots to go to if you're looking to see more sights and restaurants. The menu choices are delicious and showcase some of Atlanta's finest dishes. John keeps the entire group engaged throughout the entire tour. I would recommend this tour to everyone!

Hi Zach! And a "Hello" to Ms, A.! To be very honest, when I heard that you two just might be looking for a city to call home, I went into full "Atlanta is the best place ever" mode! I'm sure it became abundantly clear that my sweet Jeri and I wouldn't live anywhere else. We love our Midtown neighborhood and all it has to offer...especially the food! Thanks for sending out the great review...and I certainly won't be surprised if I run into you two on Peachtree Street. Me, if I was you, I'd re-apply to Tech! Ha! My best to you both! John
