What To Expect
1
Montezuma Castle National Monument
View these ancient cliff dwellings by standing just below the limestone cliffs for a close-up view into Arizona's past. Just a short walk from the Visitor's Center on a paved walk-way brings you to this much sought out historic location.
2
Mormon Lake
Travel to Arizona's cool high country to experience the historic Mormon Lake Lodge for lunch. All inclusive up to $20 per person. While here you can visit their Zane Grey Museum and their huge collection of western movie posters. There is also a general store that has everything from camping and traveling items to ice cream bars. Walk the grounds to see everything displayed for your enjoyment, including a tractor museum, horses and live buffalos.
3
Fort Verde State Historic Park
This key camp and later fort location was heavily used during the Indian wars in Arizona. Luckily it has been preserved for us to enjoy. Visit the small museum located in the main building and this walk along the parade grounds to see the Office Quarters. The Fort is located right in the town of Camp Verde not far from the Verde (meaning "green" ) River that flows through town.

Preserved well and interesting signage. Short walk once you leave the gift store/museum. So sad to see that some of the trees in the area were vandalized.
