WOW. What an adventure. We spent an amazing 3.5 hours with Toney as he showed us the sights, took some amazing photos of our family, told incredible stories, taught us the history of the Valley and its people, and even sang us a song. We laughed, we smiled, and we learned. I can’t recommend this experience enough. Definitely one of the highlights of our vacation.

The bad: a huge storm washed the roads out in the Valley, so we didn’t actually get to go inside. Super disappointing, but of course not Toney’s fault. The good: everything else! Toney gave us (my family and another couple) the choice to either cancel the tour, or he would take us out somewhere else and do another tour in the mesas. We all chose to stay and we were very glad for it. There was no “filler” - he took us to amazing vistas, shared history and anecdotes, taught us about the Navajo and the surroundings. He was kind, funny, and of course incredibly knowledgeable. We were sad we didn’t get the original tour but didn’t regret for a second going on the improvised one. We’re going to come back to Monument Valley and hopefully, Toney will be able to show us the actual Valley next time!
