It is a partially guided (on the bus only) tour. No one to guide at the Mt Vernon location. Bus driver was very nice. Recommend adding a stop in Alexandia for a photo op of the colonial houses.

LOBA Tour company ruined this experience. The driver arrived late and just parked in front of the hotel waving us over telling us to get into the van. The tour was over booked and a family of 7 (not my group) was pushed off of the tour and told they didn’t have room on the van. The driver was rude and started arguing with the group. The group had tickets which the driver ignored and just told them to call customer service. When asked (repeatedly) the driver refused to identify himself. After about 15 minutes of arguing the driver was visibly upset, his hands were shaking and his breathing was heavy. The tour departed the hotel well after the scheduled start time of the tour. Once we started driving the driver was talking about random nonsense, things that had nothing to do with the tour or local interest points. While driving he was unable to maintain the lane and kept driving all over the road. The driver would drive in the shoulder to pass traffic, partially enter an intersection against a red light, and then cut over to block the lane so he could enter the intersection when the light turned green. Our “tour” of old town Alexandria was just the driver reading out the names of businesses and street names as we drove past them. Finally we arrived at mount vernon which was underwhelming based on the amount of the mansion which was closed due to refurbishment as well as already being upset by the way the tour started. Upset about the whole experience, I left the tour early and had to pay for my own transportation back to DC. I spoke with other members of the tour which also told me they were not comfortable getting back in the car with the driver and would be finding alternative transport home.

It’s was one of best historical places. We could see George Washington’s palace. The tour guide was extraordinary. He made us understand almost everything about the first American president and family
