What To Expect
1
Palace of Fine Arts Theatre
The Palace of Fine Arts in the Marina District of San Francisco, California, is a monumental structure originally constructed for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition in order to exhibit works of art presented there.
2
Golden Gate Bridge
Photo stop overlooking bridge and city. The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate, the one-mile-wide (1.6 km) strait connecting San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean.
3
San Francisco Bay
San Francisco Bay is a shallow estuary in the US state of California. It is surrounded by a contiguous region known as the San Francisco Bay Area (often simply "the Bay Area"), and is dominated by the large cities of San Jose, San Francisco and Oakland.
4
Marin Headlands
A hilly peninsula at the southernmost end of Marin County, located just north of San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge, which connects the two counties and peninsulas. Part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and famous for their views of the Bay Area, especially of the Golden Gate Bridge.
5
Muir Woods National Monument
Known for its towering old-growth redwood trees. Trails wind among the trees to Cathedral Grove and Bohemian Grove, and along Redwood Creek. The primeval home to old growth Coastal Redwoods, some at least 1,200 years old. The tallest is 258 feet high. We optimize the time you spend on the trails of Coastal Redwoods by arriving before the crowds. You’ll spend 1.5 hours (or more!) enjoying California’s native flora and fauna, taking in giant ferns, moss-lined creeks, fresh bay leaf-scented air from the many Laurel trees and squirrels, blue jays and deer if you’re lucky.
6
sausalito Home Boats
Lunch Stop in Sausalito. Sausalito is a city in Marin County across the Golden Gate Strait from San Francisco, known for its Richardson Bay houseboat enclaves, built by artist squatters after WWII. The Sausalito floating home community consists of more than 400 houseboats.

We learned that Muir Woods schedules visits as our pick up time was changed by a few hours. But the Viator driver and guide were very friendly. It was nice being a smaller group. My only complaint is with the bus layout itself as you are unable to look out the front window (unless you duck your head to be waist level), especially during the windy road to the woods. Overall I highly recommend and would do it again.

It took a while for the van driver to pick up all the customers, but after that we were taken directly to Muir woods. Muir woods is naturally awesome! We spent an hour an a half there. We proceeded on to Sausalito where we were on our own to choose a restaurant for lunch. We chose the option of taking the ferry back to San Francisco which we enjoyed.

This is exactly the sort of slow-paced morning that we had in mind when designing the tour. Taking the ferry back gives you the ability to customize the Sausalito portion to your liking (Lappert's ice cream...mmmm!).

I went on the morning Muir Woods tour with Travis on a monday late september. The day was beautiful. The pickup went so smoothly (Travis was even a little early!) and the group was not too large, so there was time before our reservation at Muir Woods to stop at a viewpoint north of the Golden Gate. Also due to smooth travels, we had more than 90 min in the woods, giving plenty of time to walk around (which I was really happy about, it was lovely and smelled amazing there) and shop for souvenirs. Travis explained the dropoff at Sausalito and ferry back super clearly. It was really easy to get back, and an amazing ferry ride.

We love the Muir Woods + Sausalito tour combo. Giant redwoods in the morning and charming Sausalito for lunch. Taking the ferry back lets you slow the pace to fit your schedule. Thanks!
