This was a very pleasant trip and well worth the price. The bus ride was comfortable, and had on-board WiFi as well as an introductory history video. This was our first time in Charleston, so we appreciated the land, sea, and plantation mix. The sights were beautiful and interesting at the same time. All phases were steeped in the history of the area and each tour was given by highly knowledgeable people. Even the self-guided portion of the plantation tour offered narrated dioramas of the history of slavery. We had considered driving the two hours each way and were so glad we used the Day Trip option instead. As always, these tours expect prompt adherence to the boarding times--in this case, strictly so as there were so many things to fit in. The tour ends in the open-air crafts stalls and shops, with many interesting locally-made souvenirs. Each leg was accommodating to elderly or those with some difficulty walking very far, though we did not inquire about handicap provisions which were not obvious.

Staying a week at the beach is always an adventure. Since we were so close to Charleston we couldn’t resist catching the tour bus for a day there. The bus trip conveniently leaves from the mall convenient to Myrtle and North Myrtle. Our first stop is near the market to catch a horse and buggy tour of downtown and a trip to the market. Our guide was informative and entertaining and we enjoyed the part of town we saw, next was a trip to the harbor for a boat tour. This was a good overview which included a ride by Fort Sumter and a box lunch. My only complaint is that it is crowded on the boat and not really a comfortable place for lunch. There were others on the boat that were not part of the tour and I felt a bit awkward eating so close to others who had no lunch. The last part of the tour was a stop at Boone Hall Plantation. After a tour of the house we especially enjoyed the gardens and the wagon tour of the estate. I recommend the tour especially if you’ve never been to Charleston and just want a taste of what to see. The price is reasonable and a good value.

The trip started at 7am we were picked up by bus and driven to Charleston. The bus driver was very pleasant but didn’t really point out any points of interest on the way there. We were running about 15 minutes behind schedule. When we got there we had to rush to take the horse and buggy ride through Charleston. The tour was good, we were left off at the marketplace where we had maybe a quick 35 minutes to try and shop. Than had to meet the bus to go on the harbor tour. Lunch was a box sandwich. After harbor tour we were back on the bus to tour a plantation. That was nice but had to board the bus by 3:45pm to start the journey back to Myrtle Beach. Got back about 6 pm. Although all the tours were good it would have been a lot better to not try to squeeze so many in in one day. It would have been more enjoyable to maybe have 2 tours, time to shop and even have lunch on our own. Just felt a little rushed through it all.
