We had a sunny, calm day. We saw spinner dolphins and humpback whales. When we snorkeled, we had a big sea turtle hang out with us. The staff really went out their way to make sure we were comfortable. Great day!

Overall this cruise was amazing -even with Mother Nature not 100% cooperating. Na Pali Coast: This is why we booked the cruise and we did it way in advance because Christmas-New Years is super busy on the Island. Before we went out we knew there was a large swell and there was a chance we would not be able to see the Na Pali Coast. I mean we did decide to go to Kauai in the Winter so fair game. The company gave us the option to cancel or book again. We decided we would still go out and are very thankful that the company is very considerate of your safety. I am not well versed in nautical terms but I think we were ok even with the big swell because the wind was not bad. Visibility seemed good. So we were able to see the Na Pali Coast but we were not able to get that close- still stunningly beautiful. Snorkeling: We didn’t book this tour to snorkel so this was a take it or leave it for me. It was cool that there were dolphins in the area. The boat did the snorkel in the beginning of the trip and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be wet for the duration and I didn’t really know if I felt like messing with that snorkeling equipment. I decided I should do it and was only in the water for 15 minutes. There were a lot of people in the area (other charters) and the water was murky. I wouldn’t book this excursion to snorkel. On the plus side most of the people were in the water so I ate breakfast first and claimed a pretty awesome spot to sit. Food/Drink: The caterer the company used was totally fine. They fed us breakfast, lunch and cookies at the end. The crew was always checking to see if you needed anything. The beer they had was pretty decent. Crew: Captain Ian, Ian and KeKoa were amazing!!!! Bring extra $$ to tip. They were knowledgeable and entertaining. They made sure that you always had a beverage and had everything you needed. Kekoa is the man. There was a point where my phone flew away as I was not being too successful navigating the boat. I pretty much resolved that it was either me or my phone that was going in the ocean. I pretty much accepted that my phone was gone. I have no idea how he did it but Kekoa saved the day!! Bring if you want to sit up front: You will get wet. Swimsuit, rashgaurd, long sleeve, waterproof rain jacket, waterproof cell phone case, motion sickness meds, and hat clips (you can purchase them at the Holo Holo store). Only bring sunscreen if it is a reef safe physical. They have a Raw Elements dispenser on board. Motion Sickness: I have motion sickness. I will be honest I still felt a little queasy towards the last 45 minutes. I have rx and over the counter meds. Totally manageable but it was a conversation I had with my doctor and pharmacist before embarking on this adventure during the winter. Overall, I would absolutely recommend booking with Holo Holo. They are amazing. If I could do anything different I would of come to Kauai when I could book a trip from Hanalei Bay. I have heard that the best tours of the Na Pali Coast are from the North. I would totally book with Holo Holo from the Hanalei Bay(April-October). Hopefully I will get a chance in the future! Mahalo!
