What To Expect

Oxbow Public Market
You’ll be picked up at Napa’s Oxbow Market in the late morning for a 6-hour tour on the Napa Valley Wine Trolley, an open-air vehicle modeled after a historic 1890s San Francisco cable car. Enjoy the wind in your air as you take in the beautiful sights and smells of Napa wine country. Your friendly, knowledgeable guide will keep you entertained with commentary and stories about Napa’s history and wine culture.
2
Napa Valley
Visit three or four family-owned Napa Valley wineries for private wine-tasting sessions. Your hosts will explain the different varietals you taste and give you a background on the wineries (wine-tasting fees are not included; fees range between USD$25 and $40). Stop for lunch catered by Ottimo, award winning Chef Michael Chiarello's Italian Eatery and tasting room. Enjoy gourmet sandwiches, side salads, and desserts. All served family style! You’ll have plenty of wonderful photo opportunities throughout your tour, and your guide will be happy to take a photo of your group so you can document your memorable day in wine country. At the end of the day, you’ll be taken back to Oxbow Market – there are plenty of delicious dining options here if you’d like to have dinner after your tour.

The "trolley" had a very rough ride. The transmission shifted abruptly and the engine was very loud. The seats were very uncomfortable. It was more like sitting on a rock. It was a long drive to the wineries so by the time we arrived at the first on my butt was on fire. The wine tasting fees were NOT included in the price so I opted out of the tastings. These fees can be $25+ so that's another $75 on top of the ticket price. The included lunch was decent (greens salad, three types of pizza and small a fruit gellato). Of course drinks were not included. Not much to see either. We were driving 50+ so things were a blur or stopped at a winery for a wine tasting. No tour of the winery, but there was some semi-interesting info on how wines are made and the Napa and Sonoma valleys. All in all I would suggest you schedule tastings at some local wineries and save to ticket cost.

Good afternoon. I'm sorry you felt that the tour, in your opinion, was not up to your standards. Yes our trolleys are historic in nature, they are replicas built around the 1890 San Francisco Trolley Cars. They are not produced any longer. However the charm is why our guests book them. Our farthest winery is 11 miles from where our pick up spot is. We go under 40MPH to get there. It can seem faster because of the open air aspect of the trolley. Tasting fees are not included in the price of the tour and that is clearly stated on the website and email reminders. No tour in Napa at our price includes the tasting fees.

Richard was awesome, funny, and knowledgeable throughout the whole tour. The only shortcomings of this tour had nothing to do with him. The pizza spot we ate at forgot to bring out all of our food and one of our wines. Again, the tour guide was great and the wine was great but I wish the service was better at the lunch spot that he took us to.
