Overview

Get ready for an exciting adventure! Your guide will give a fun and informative safety briefing, along with a short introduction to paddling the Cumberland River.

The route we take on the Cumberland is approximately 3 miles and usually takes around 90 minutes, depending on the current speed and weather conditions. Plan for 90 minutes on the water and 30 minutes for loading and preparation. This section of the Cumberland is typically calm, making it perfect for first-time kayakers. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and capture amazing photos along the way!

Once upon a time, 3 girls from The City of Angels had a 3 day holiday weekend and wanted to embark on a new adventure. Nashville or Bust. Thought we'd do some sort of physical activity aside from dancing, and read about SUP on the Cumberland. Best decision ever! We had so much fun and laughed for the entire 3 hours! We couldn't have asked for a better guide, Jordan was so laid back and cool. Shared laughs and stories and gave us all the history and myths of the Cumberland. Do yourself a favor and book a SUP tour with Big Willie's, but do yourself a bigger favor and request Jordan!

We reserved 2 slots for the tour of the Nashville river. Come to find out, there were boat races that particular weekend. Rather than cancelling the tour, the owner made new plans to visit a nearby lake (which turned out to be an excellent idea). The lake was beautiful and the weather could not have been more perfect. Both of our guides were really chill and friendly. The only issue we had (and I believe it was because of the boat races) it was hard to figure out exactly where the guides were going to pick us up at. Other than that, it was a fun time and I recommend it to everyone.

I seriously had the best time paddle boarding with this company!! I have been paddle boarding before in California but the company I used before gave no instruction, and just sent us on our way to paddle in circles! Big Willies was super helpful, and took us down the river behind downtown Nashville with amazing views!! They were friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience so worth it!! I look forward to booking another tour with them!!
