By far one of the highlights of the trip. Our tour guide Ari was AMAZING!! A wonderful storyteller, she had a way of making everything sound so interesting. Of course, the tour content was fascinating too. A nice mix of history of the area before taking a pit stop at a visitor center for refreshments and restrooms.. and then it was on to the actual cemetery. The cemetery was a bit crowded with tour groups, but everyone was polite and allowed groups to pass by or take their turns at certain spots. There are a lot of photo opportunities on this tour as well. We lucked out with cooler weather, but be warned that the cemetery can get HOT even on an already hot day. Would absolutely recommend this company for tours, and request Ari if you can!!

We did this tour last week and were very impressed! Our tour guide Will was obviously very passionate about his job and was a wealth of knowledge about Louisiana history. The cemetery tour was so interesting, we were fascinated by the stories of the people buried there. We were really happy to have had Will as our guide... he was the best!

When we saw the Haunted History Cemetery Tour, we knew we had to go. It is one of the only ways to enter Saint Louis Cemetery No. 1 and what better way to see it than by adding the Haunted History of it. Since there were so many people signed up for the tour, we split into two groups with two different tour guides. Fortunately, we got the best guide of all time, Gabriel. On most tours, you walk around town, listening to someone recite memorized information and telling stories in monotone voices. Gabriel was such a character and had an animated essence to him that throughout the entire 2 hour tour, he captured every ounce of my focus; which is really hard to do. He would act out events with voices and actions as if we were living in that particular time period. One minute, he would have to entire group invested in a serious and mystical story and the next minute, he had everyone laughing. There is nothing I enjoy more than someone who can tell you something very serious but crack a joke to keep things lighthearted. During our walk in the cemetery, we would hear other guides talking to their groups and we would look at each other and say, "Our guide is so much better." There was just something about Gabriel that makes you want the tour to go on all day long. Another things that I really appreciated was Gabriel's respect, not only for those in his group, but also the other groups around us. We would slowly pass a tomb and he would tell us to remember it. Then, he would lead us a couple of feet away from the grave to tell use the story and folklore without crowding the landmark and preventing other people from being able to see. All of the other groups would huddle around the tombs and we weren't able to see. That just adds to how great of a guide he is. All in all, the Haunted History Cemetery Tour is a must do if you want to learn the history of New Orleans as it pertains to the dead and Catholicism vs Voodooism. I must strongly stress that having Gabriel as your guide will make your experience so fun, enjoyable, and breathtaking that you won't be able to stop talking about it.
