Excellent historical and food journey, led by Chris, who did a great job! This city is known for it's food, and this tour gave us a sampling of all of the iconic dishes, from jambalaya, po'boys, gumbo, alligator, oysters, pralines. Normally, beignets would be included with those foods, but our tour was on the Wednesday after Mardi Gras, so there was confusion with the hours of the bakery - disappointing, as we were NOT going to Cafe du Monde, but rather a more "off the beaten path" spot - we will have to return another time! We ate at a wide range of venues, including "N'Awlins" in the French Market where we each had our own alligator sausage to the truly posh restaurant, "Tableau", run by the Brennan Family who notably own Commander's Palace, where we ate their stunningly delicious fresh French bread and duck gumbo! The gumbo was delicious, rich, flavorful, truly special. We also ate at "New Orleans Creole Cookery" for jambalaya and grilled oysters, excellent! And we enjoyed fried shrimp po'boys at "The Market Cafe" in the French Market. We had what I'd describe as exactly the right amount of food, a full meal. Each spot allowed for a bathroom break and also allowed the purchase of adult beverages if you so desired. We learned so much about NOLA history, walking all around, stopping at key sites, learning about the history, architecture, culture. Highly recommend!
