New Orleans Garden District Historical Tour: Destined To Be Different

Overview
The Garden District survives as a showcase of magnificent houses and gardens. Hear the stories of the cotton brokers and commission merchants who made their home in the Garden District. One Of The Most Unique Neighborhoods In All America: The Garden District became a fashionable enclave of New Orleans’ most successful American citizens, and moving “Uptown” to the prestigious Garden District was considered the culmination of one’s achievements. Please Note: The City of New Orleans has closed Lafayette Cemetery #1 for repairs. While the Cemetery is closed The Savvy Native has expanded its Garden District Tour to include historical sites not normally included in our 2 hour tour.

Joan was so lovely and knowledgeable. She is from this area and can share so much history. Excellent tour and we were lucky to just have the five of us. We preferred a smaller group than the large ones we passed along the way

Took the Garden District Tour with Joan. I was the only person on the tour due to a reschedule by the others. Joan was super nice, right on time, very knowledgeable. The tour lasted longer than the scheduled 2 hours, she was excited about the history and wanted me to see absolutely everything! Walked me most of the way to my next destination too. My only suggestion would be that she has so many facts in her head it’s sometimes hard for her to pick out the right ones immediately! Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Great to hear you “thoroughly enjoyed” your tour of the Garden District with The Savvy Native. Can we sometimes be “long on history”? The answer is yes and your suggestion is well received and greatly appreciated and will be put to good use. Thank you again for taking a walk with The Savvy Native.
