This tour is a combination of both a swamp tour and an airboat ride. Your tour guide will stop on your journey to allow for photos and alligator encounters! This airboat is a larger capacity vessel with the ability to seat up to 16 passengers. This is perfect for larger groups. The seating on your airboat is stadium style seating, so anyone seated in front of you will not be obstructing your view. Each airboat tour is unique and unscripted, you never know what's going to be waiting for your group behind the next turn. Airboats are driven by a 454 Chevy Engine, bringing speeds of your boat up to 25 miles an hour. Airboats are propelled by a large fan that blow air behind the vessel. On this tour, you will reach places and visit areas which normal boats and vehicles are unable to access.

Captain Ernie gave us our instructions and strapped us in. Our large boat tour had about 15 passengers and I have been air boating all of my life - this is the safest time I have ever felt on an airboat. We wore seatbelts that fit 2-3 people together, had ear protection gear which worked and fit well, and the boat had metal arms that came down to keep you safely inside the boat if we would lean. Ernie stopped the boat a few times to come down to the front to talk to us. He emphasized that we signed up for a swamp tour and not an alligator tourā€¦..alligators are reptiles and they basically hibernate for the cold months. Luckily, it was warm enough that we did see several gators, a poisonous snake in a tree (yes, that really happened), birds and lots of deer. Ernie talked to us about how these areas where salt and fresh water mix act as filters for our environment. We talked about alligators, how hurricanes have affected these areas, what is means to be a Cajun, and ā€œswamp people.ā€ No question was off limits and we had a great time. This was family-safe and I would not hesitate to take my own child on this tour.

I just did this tour last weekend and it was phenomenal! I was traveling with a medium-sized group with mixed ages and interests and everyone said this was the highlight of the trip. We had (chad---I think, I hope) as our guide and he really made the experience for everyone. His knowledge of the area and his familiarity with the gators (Giving them names and all) made it so fun and interesting. It wasn't a long drive from the city either which was pretty nice. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone going to NOLA for a weekend. You can bring a cooler so you don't even really have to stop the party and you get to see something new, like a gator eat a marshmallow.

To call this trip fun barely does justice to how good of a time I had. I was just expecting a tour of the swamp and maybe to see some alligators, but I did not expect to actually pet one (they're squishier than they look). This ranks with the coolest things I've ever done. The captain was hilarious but knowledgeable and in control.
