New Orleans Plantation Driving Tour

Overview
Visit a plantation along the Mississippi River and glimpse into the grace, grandeur, and tragedy of early southern history on this four-hour tour from New Orleans. Gain an understanding of the socioeconomic and cultural factors that gave rise to slavery and why it became such a powerful institution throughout the south. Learn how industries such as oil, cotton, sugar, lumber, indigo, and citrus allowed New Orleans to become the city it is today and why it was such an important trading center before the outbreak of the Civil War.

What a truly awesome day we had with Dominic. Two brilliant and very different plantations and detours to show us the Garden District and different parts of the surrounding areas. Lovely lunch too. Dominic is hugely knowledgeable, genial and great company, my husband left his phone in the van and Dominic brought it to our restaurant in the evening! Above and beyond! Thank you, hope to see you again some day!

Just seeing your review...I hope you had a great time. You all were a delight to be with...even if you did leave you phone in the car!!! Hope you enjoyed the food at Tableau. Thanks for selecting me to be your guide and New Orleans as your destination.

Dominick is one of the most knowledgeable guides I have used from trips all over the world. On our drive to Live Oak Plantation, we asked Dominick so many questions and all were answered with more than just the standard answer. The same was true on the return. We covered not only the topic of plantations but also the changes since Katrina in land and water management as well as education and housing. We will be back in August and will take the Katrina Tour for sure!

Thanks for taking the time to submit s review. It was a pleasure to tour with you. Your many questions made it a better tour, for I believe an open discussion is far better than a scripted narration. I am glad you found the information interesting; I believe it will stay with you for a long time. Hope to see you again. Dominick

Dominick was unavailable, as he is booked way on advance. Dom suggested Hank. Please know that Hank does a wonderful job as a tour guide. Offering insights and details into history and current life in New Orleans. Hank is super kind and full of many personal stories of life in NO. I fully recommend this tour and Hank as your guide, you will not be disappointed.

Hank is a great guide and I am glad that you were flexible enough to have Hank fill for me while I was otherwise occupied. I know Hank was a wealth of information and invited an open discussion rather than a one-sided narration. Thanks for selecting New Orleans Private Tours as your tour company and Hank as your guide. We hope to see you again. Dominick
