New Orleans Plantation Driving Tour

Overview
Visit a plantation along the Mississippi River and glimpse into the grace, grandeur, and tragedy of early southern history on this four-hour tour from New Orleans. Gain an understanding of the socioeconomic and cultural factors that gave rise to slavery and why it became such a powerful institution throughout the south. Learn how industries such as oil, cotton, sugar, lumber, indigo, and citrus allowed New Orleans to become the city it is today and why it was such an important trading center before the outbreak of the Civil War.

Oh! Our group of five spent a day with Dominick. We handed him our hope to see plantations and a warning that we would have two 12 year-old with us. We left all details up to him. I'm ready to hand him all my money and let him organize my life. Casually communicative with a wealth of knowledge, we were at ease immediately. He talked Yugioh with the kids AND had them fascinated with the industry and sociology of the sugar plantations. He had stories of people and places throughout time, and a love of Louisiana history. Obviously, too, he has created good relationships with the employees and volunteers everywhere we went. Altogether, we felt cared for, treated, and brought into his world rather than being part of an tour group looking in from the outside. Rather than a canned tour on a tight timeline we were blessed with a day of slowing down, absorbing so much new information, being showing the rough and the beautiful. We walked away feeling like favorite family. Best advice: slow down, chew your food, enjoy the ride. For all the depth and care Dominick provides, your dollar couldn't go farther. Just go on, give him your time and your money. He'll be my FIRST call fo my next trip to New Orleans.

You all were fun to be with and I hope New Orleans had its best face on for you. And it was kind of you to notice that we have good working relationships all over the region and those relationships help us serve visitors. Hopefully too you learned something about our history and have a new appreciation for New Orleans in general. I hope to see you again. Thanks, Dominick

Four of us went on the Plantation Driving Tour with Dominick. It was a truly delightful and interesting day. He is extremely knowledgeable about all things New Orleans, and a very pleasant guy to spend the day with, to boot. We all learned something new from Dominick in the course of the day, and had a fabulous lunch with him as well. We highly recommend Dominick's services, and we will definitely contact him again if we return to New Orleans.

We spent a very worthwhile day with Dom Musso touring two of the riverfront Plantations within driving distance of New Orleans. He is well informed in the way that only a highly intelligent native can be, and he shares his knowledge freely in the most pleasant, non-pushy way. Really all you could hope for in a tour guide (he's a good driver and luncheon companion as well!) We've been coming to New Orleans every couple of years for a while now, and look forward to incorporating one of Dom's tours in our next visit, too!
