New York Dyker Heights Christmas Lights

Overview

Nothing says Christmas like Dyker Heights, the most famous display of lights on the planet. Locals have been decorating their homes—personally and professionally—since the '80s, making it a true NYC winter wonderland.

THE TOUR WILL TAKE PLACE RAIN or SHINE!

The ride from Midtown to Dyker Heights in Brooklyn is about an hour long on board of our comfortable coach fully heated with a restroom on board.

Your guide will escort you to Lucy Spata's house, the house that started this tradition, and walk you through the most illuminated streets before taking you back to the bus. You will spend about an hour in Dyker Heights strolling around and taking pictures.

The next stop will be at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge in the DUMBO/Brooklyn Heights area of Brooklyn. You will have about 25 minutes to take pictures of the breathtaking Manhattan skyline and the Bridge.

Then you will return to Manhattan via the Manhattan Bridge. The tour ends at the Bryant Park Winter Village.

What To Expect

Dyker Heights

This is the main stop of our tour. (Note: buses are not allowed in Dyker Heights because of the narrow streets). Your guide will escort you to the two most illuminated streets and orient you. You will then have an hour to explore and take pictures on your own.

Brooklyn Heights

Stop to enjoy spectacular views of the Brooklyn Bridge and the breathtaking Manhattan Skyline illuminated! (Note: duration can be between 20-30 minutes depend on traffic.)

Bryant Park

This is where our tour ends. Bryant Park's Winter Village is a market with over 150 stalls selling seasonal food, drink & gifts as well as a large ice skating rink with skate rental. You can enjoy the view of the colorful Bryant Park Christmas tree and buy one of the best hot chocolate in town. The Rockefeller Center and its tree are only a few minutes walk from here.

A fun way to spend 3.5 hours on a December evening. The transport bus was comfortable. We left on time and returned to our destination at the end of the evening on time. Staff on the tour were professional and welcoming.

Nowhere in the "description" did it share there would be an hour+ drive on a greyhound both going and returning to the neighborhood to see the lights. The guide was sweet, but sat and was not engaged with the participants on the journey.

Dear Elizabeth, I am very sorry you were disappointed. Our description doesn't say how long it takes to get to Dyker Heights specifically, but our itinerary shows clearly that from midtown we go straight there, an eleven miles drive that translates into anywhere from 45 minutes to a little more than an hour ride depending on the traffic. On the way back we stop in Dumbo because it offers a beautiful view of the skyline and also because it breaks the trip back to Manhattan into two shorter periods. The guide sitting and not engaging with the participants is not our standard. I would like to hear more about your experience. The four of us needed a holiday event and this was it. Everything about the tour was perfect, from the guide to the bus-we loved seeing the sights. We have other friends coming to town and plan on treating them. Great for out of towners!!! A memorable Christmas.
