New York Dyker Heights Christmas Lights

Overview
Nothing says Christmas like Dyker Heights, the most famous display of lights on the planet. Locals have been decorating their homes—personally and professionally—since the '80s, making it a true NYC winter wonderland.

THE TOUR WILL TAKE PLACE RAIN or SHINE!

The ride from Midtown to Dyker Heights in Brooklyn is about an hour long on board of our comfortable coach fully heated with a restroom on board.

Your guide will escort you to Lucy Spata's house, the house that started this tradition, and walk you through the most illuminated streets before taking you back to the bus. You will spend about an hour in Dyker Heights strolling around and taking pictures.

The next stop will be at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge in the DUMBO/Brooklyn Heights area of Brooklyn. You will have about 25 minutes to take pictures of the breathtaking Manhattan skyline and the Bridge.

Then you will return to Manhattan via the Manhattan Bridge. The tour ends at the Bryant Park Winter Village.

What To Expect
1
Dyker Heights
This is the main stop of our tour. (Note: buses are not allowed in Dyker Heights because of the narrow streets). Your guide will escort you to the two most illuminated streets and orient you. You will then have an hour to explore and take pictures on your own.
2
Brooklyn Heights
Stop to enjoy spectacular views of the Brooklyn Bridge and the breathtaking Manhattan Skyline illuminated! (Note: duration can be between 20-30 minutes depend on traffic.)
3
Bryant Park
This is where our tour ends. Bryant Park's Winter Village is a market with over 150 stalls selling seasonal food, drink & gifts as well as a large ice skating rink with skate rental. You can enjoy the view of the colorful Bryant Park Christmas tree and buy one of the best hot chocolate in town. The Rockefeller Center and its tree are only a few minutes walk from here.

Having seen pictures of the houses in their glory, I was a tad disappointed that it was on a much smaller scale than I was expecting, with just the odd house decorated here & there. The trip itself was well organised, the reps were waiting to board you on the bus & kept to the given timings, but the trip advertises “a small amount of walking” when actually you are dropped off on a residential street & told you have an hour to walk round the area until you meet up for the bus (the bus has to leave the area so no opportunity to reboard early). I tried to keep up with the tour guide but I’m on crutches & had to give up after about 15 minutes. There is nowhere nearby to sit down or anywhere to wait for the bus & it was freezing cold & windy - had I known in advance how long we were off the bus, I wouldn’t have booked, I consider an hour to be well more than a “small amount”. There was a stop on the return journey to allow for photographs of the night skyline but due to the amount of earlier activity, I opted to stay on the bus. We were dropped off at Bryant Park which gave an opportunity for people to visit the market stalls & ice rink, that was a nice end. The guide & the bus driver were friendly & had great depth of knowledge which was imparted on the journey, I just wish that the initial description of the tour gave more accurate information.

Hi there, the only way to visit the Dyker Heights decorations is to walk around the houses. It is a residential area with no benches. I never had anyone complaining about too much walking on this tour. I am sorry that there was no clarity in the description. Thank you for the feedback and we will take it into consideration to improve the description of the tour in the future. Best Valerio

After a delay waiting for our coach. We arrived at Dyker Heights which was amazing to see. The tour guide was knowledgeable. The added extra of seeing Brooklyn bridge at night and the best ice Cream topped off the tour. Xx

We understand that traffic in NY can cause delays but having us show up 15 min early for the tour and then stand outside on the sidewalk until all latecomers are accounted for only to wait another 30 min in the cold for the bus is a bit much. We also waited where instructed but the guide ended up wait9ng around the corner without letting anybody else know. But nevertheless, we got our full hour of looking at lights, which was great. And we saw additional attractions such as the Brooklyn Bridge at night. The best part was the information provided by our guide on where else to go and what to visit while we were driving in peak NY traffic to Dyker heights. At least we had a nice comfortable hot bus to return to at the end - with access to a bathroom!

Hi Nadia, I am glad to hear you enjoyed the tour and the amenities of our bus. I sincerely apologize for the bus being late. I can assure you that it is not our standard. We always have a bus arriving at 3.30 and the second at 3.45. Unfortunately, because of traffic, the second one was late on that specific day. Thank you for the feedback and for the overall positive review.
