For ages 5 and up, this approx 3-hour tour is our 90 minute narrated overview Newport Mansions Trolley Tour PLUS a 90-minute tour ticket for admission inside the Vanderbilt Breaker's Mansion (total approx 3 hrs).

After boarding our luxurious and comfortable trolley at Bus Platform #2 of the Newport Transit Center, your driver starts the tour with a brief history of Colonial-era downtown and explains the Gilded Era history and events that occurred over the centuries. Then you will experience breath-taking views of scenic Ocean Drive prior to seeing the strip of mansions lining Bellevue Ave. Along the route, movie and TV sets will come to life, such as HBOs The Gilded Age, Hocus Pocus 2, the Great Gatsby, Amistad, True Lies, and a dozen more.

The duration of this tour is 160-180 minutes, depending on traffic conditions
This tour departs promptly at scheduled time. We cannot hold the trolley for stragglers. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to departure. We may sell the seats of passengers who are not on time to others who are waiting on standby
There are no refunds to passengers who arrive late and miss the tour
Please bring earbuds or headphones to hear the Breakers audio tour through your phone
Please do not meet directly at the Breakers mansion. You will visit the attraction during the trolley tour
Youth under 17 must be accompanied by an adult
Our drivers have updated manifests on their smart phones. Cancelled tickets are not accepted for admission
The trolley is not handicapped accessible.. Driver may assign seating based on customer's physical needs
Management at the Breakers Mansion no longer allows curbside drop off and pickup. All passengers are discharged and picked up in the bus lot at the mansion. Visitors will have a walking requirement about 700 feet from the drop off point to the front door of the mansion.
There are no longer any covid restrictions. All seats and rows are utilized and face coverings are not required

The huge mansions from the late 19th century were beyond belief. The grandiosity outside and the luxury inside were more than I expected.

I’m usually not the type to join any type of touisty tour, but I only had an afternoon to spend and didn’t want to waste any time wandering around lost. When I weighed the fact that this tour was only $20 more than the entrance fee into The Breakers, that sold me, and I’m so glad I did. I got to relax and enjoy the view while listening to the driver point out every single thing we passed along the way. Had I not gone on the tour, I would have never seen the church where JFK & Jackie married, Jay Leno’s house, where Jennifer Lawrence’s wedding reception was held, etc. . . I only had time to see one mansion, and The Breakers was a jaw-dropping experience. ***Best parking tip; you park at the bus terminal for the tour at a rate of so much each half hour (which is the cheapest lot in Newport), and it’ll probably cost about $14 by the time you return from the tour. However, if you also buy a ticket from the RI green city bus at the same terminal, even if you only go one stop, and hand that in along with the parking lot ticket, the ENTIRE DAY in Newport only costs $2!!!!!

If you want to have fun and be safe from COVID-19, know this before booking: Not one single person, including the bus driver wore a face mask on the fully packed bus that we were on for 90 minutes (end of July 2021). Our family of four was stuck on this tour with people coughing, talking loudly, turning around constantly, and we were not allowed to keep the windows open on the bus. The driver said “Everyone can do what they’re comfortable with”. One of our kids is too young to be vaccinated, and we personally know people who got seriously ill AFTER getting their vaccines, so we are still living in reality knowing that this virus (COVID) kills. Thankfully the Breakers mansion had a mask requirement, although there were still a few people that took their masks off after they entered. The tour could have gotten a 5, but it was ridiculous that in the middle of a flare up all over the country the mask requirement was completely ignored. Very disappointed.

It is disclosed on all websites prior to the ticket purchase that masks are not required for fully vaccinated people. It is also disclosed that every seat and every row on the trolley is utilized after May 2021. Opening windows on a hot humid day defeats the purpose of running the AC
