Overview

For ages 5 and up, this approx 90-min tour is an "overview" tour of scenic Newport.

After boarding our luxurious and comfortable trolley at platform #2 of the Newport Transit Center, your driver starts the tour with a brief history of Colonial-era downtown and explains the Gilded Age history and events that occurred over the centuries.

Then you will experience breath-taking views of scenic Ocean Drive prior to seeing the strip of mansions lining Bellevue Ave. Along the route, movie and TV sets will come to life, such as HBOs The Gilded Age, Hocus Pocus 2, The Great Gatsby, Amistad, True Lies, and a dozen more.

This tour departs promptly at scheduled time. We cannot hold the trolley for stragglers. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to departure. We may sell the seats of passengers who are not on time to others who are waiting on standby
There are no refunds to passengers who arrive late and miss the tour
Our drivers have updated manifests on their smart phones. Cancelled tickets are not accepted for admission
Youth under 17 must be accompanied by an adult
The trolley is not handicapped accessible. Driver may assign seating based on customer's physical needs
There are no longer any covid restrictions. All seats and rows are utilized and face coverings are not required

We booked our tour in advance of our trip. The day started out okay, but then the fog rolled in and you could not see even a few feet ahead. We went on the tour, but it was not enjoyable, even though the driver, Russ, was knowledgeable and funny. I reached out to the tour company and they offered to take us the next day, when it was sunny. The tour was great. Russ had a lot of very useful information about Newport. The company was very responsive by booking us on a trip the next day, even though they have no control over the weather. Would highly recommend this company and its tours.

My husband and I were traveling from MA to RI and decided to stop in Newport based on a recommendation from a bartender. As we made our way into Newport we stopped for a soda and did some internet searches. The Best f Newport Trolley Tour showed up and we decided to book some seats on the next tour which was in 45 minutes. We drive to the Visitor Center of Newport, 23 Americas Cup Avenue, Newport, RI. There was ample parking which was free of charge. As we entered the facility we noticed the stands with attraction, restaurant and hotel information, a gift shop as well as the Trolley company desk. Our Trolley bus arrived on time and folks loaded quickly. The seats were padded and therefore very comfortable. There were even cups holders! Our driver was from Brazil and was easy to understand, very knowledgeable and funny. He easily kept everyone's attention and drove very safely. Although gratuity is optional we as well as many others handed him a tip as we left as a thank you for the excellent job that he did. As a parent, I would recommend this tour to anyone 11 or older. Younger ones would not likely think that looking at mansions as a fun activity.

Driver was both informative and kept us entertained. Seats were extremely comfortable. The tour was an hour and a half and I think that was just the right length of time.
