Overview

For ages 5 and up, this approx 90-min tour is an "overview" tour of scenic Newport.

After boarding our luxurious and comfortable trolley at platform #2 of the Newport Transit Center, your driver starts the tour with a brief history of Colonial-era downtown and explains the Gilded Age history and events that occurred over the centuries.

Then you will experience breath-taking views of scenic Ocean Drive prior to seeing the strip of mansions lining Bellevue Ave. Along the route, movie and TV sets will come to life, such as HBOs The Gilded Age, Hocus Pocus 2, The Great Gatsby, Amistad, True Lies, and a dozen more.

Today's happenings are also thoroughly covered such as the best dining spots, boat tours, and other fun activities. Your tour guide will detail the best way to navigate this bustling city as well as explain the Cliff Walk attractions.

The duration of this tour is 70-90 minutes, depending on traffic conditions
This tour departs promptly at scheduled time. We cannot hold the trolley for stragglers. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to departure. We may sell the seats of passengers who are not on time to others who are waiting on standby
There are no refunds to passengers who arrive late and miss the tour
Our drivers have updated manifests on their smart phones. Cancelled tickets are not accepted for admission
Youth under 17 must be accompanied by an adult
The trolley is not handicapped accessible. Driver may assign seating based on customer's physical needs
There are no longer any covid restrictions. All seats and rows are utilized and face coverings are not required

I took this trolley ride during the off season, otherwise I would have gone with a water tour. The guide seemed to know everything about the area so that was great.

we took the 10:00 tour so we could do other things. It is a nice time and was not quite full. The tour guide had a very good knowledge of the area we went to. Now we live in RI and go to Newport a lot but we still learned a lot from the tour. We even saw places we did not know about which was great.We have lot of visitors and now we will look so smart when we take them to Newport. The ride is just right at about an hour and a half. We then were able to see some stores and some nice small restaurants and the wharfs which are so much fun with so many small but great stores. The ride is really nice and I think a visitor even with children should see this splendid city where so much history has taken place and just to see some of the old but well taken care of homes both the small homes to the mansions of the Guilded age. We have always had such a great time in this City and we also recomend the Newport Playhouse.Outstanding.
