Overview

For ages 5 and up, this approx 90-min tour is an "overview" tour of scenic Newport.

After boarding our luxurious and comfortable trolley at platform #2 of the Newport Transit Center, your driver starts the tour with a brief history of Colonial-era downtown and explains the Gilded Age history and events that occurred over the centuries.

Then you will experience breath-taking views of scenic Ocean Drive prior to seeing the strip of mansions lining Bellevue Ave. Along the route, movie and TV sets will come to life, such as HBOs The Gilded Age, Hocus Pocus 2, The Great Gatsby, Amistad, True Lies, and a dozen more.

This tour departs promptly at scheduled time. We cannot hold the trolley for stragglers. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to departure. We may sell the seats of passengers who are not on time to others who are waiting on standby
There are no refunds to passengers who arrive late and miss the tour
Our drivers have updated manifests on their smart phones. Cancelled tickets are not accepted for admission
Youth under 17 must be accompanied by an adult
The trolley is not handicapped accessible. Driver may assign seating based on customer's physical needs
There are no longer any covid restrictions. All seats and rows are utilized and face coverings are not required

Newport is a busy little town and the streets are filled with cars and people. Best to leave your car at the lot and sit back on the trolley for a guided tour. We chose the "Newport in a Nutshell" which was about three hours long. The price of the tour included a drop-off at the Breakers, then a pick-up in about an hour,. Well worth the money, and the guide was very informative.

The trolley bus tour starts from outside of the visitor centre which is only about 300 metres away from the offloading point for the cruise ship tenders. The trip goes through the town.The guide/ driver points out all of the places of interest as you drive through town and along Ocean Drive to look at the mansions many famous people have villas around here. JF Kennedy married Jackie in the local church. The tour was very interesting and takes an hour and a half and it is ideal fo people with not much time and need to get insight into Newport . After getting off the bus we had plenty off time to explore the town of Newport. We would highly recommend this tour
