Overview

For ages 5 and up, this approx 90-min tour is an "overview" tour of scenic Newport.

After boarding our luxurious and comfortable trolley at platform #2 of the Newport Transit Center, your driver starts the tour with a brief history of Colonial-era downtown and explains the Gilded Age history and events that occurred over the centuries.

Then you will experience breath-taking views of scenic Ocean Drive prior to seeing the strip of mansions lining Bellevue Ave. Along the route, movie and TV sets will come to life, such as HBOs The Gilded Age, Hocus Pocus 2, The Great Gatsby, Amistad, True Lies, and a dozen more.

Today's happenings are also thoroughly covered such as the best dining spots, boat tours, and other fun activities. Your tour guide will detail the best way to navigate this bustling city as well as explain the Cliff Walk attractions.

This tour departs promptly at scheduled time. We cannot hold the trolley for stragglers. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to departure. We may sell the seats of passengers who are not on time to others who are waiting on standby
There are no refunds to passengers who arrive late and miss the tour
Our drivers have updated manifests on their smart phones. Cancelled tickets are not accepted for admission
Youth under 17 must be accompanied by an adult
The trolley is not handicapped accessible. Driver may assign seating based on customer's physical needs
There are no longer any covid restrictions. All seats and rows are utilized and face coverings are not required

On a beautiful spring day, we took the "Best of Newport Plus" tour driven by a very knowledgeable guide named Russ. His commentary was very valuable, and among the best I have heard on any tour. I don't think that he missed telling us about any site of importance that we passed. Russ also had a good sense of humor which we particularly enjoyed. On this tour, after seeing a lot of old Newport, tourists are dropped off at the Breakers and given 90 minutes to tour the mansion before the trolley returns. Excellent tour all the way around.

You must book Newport Travel Tours for any wedding in the New England area. To say they go above and beyond is an understatement. Russ and Carlos made my wedding dreams come true. They were early, were generous enough to stay a bit late when needed, and treated my friends and family like gold. The vehicles are all very clean and beautiful, especially the brand new white trolley. I cannot recommend them enough! The trolleys were truly the highlight of my wedding - my guests loved them as much as our band! It really makes an impact on the overall festivities and flow of the day. My husband originally did not understand why we needed to offer them but after the fact was so happy we did! Newport Travel is the best bang for your buck too. They are fair and prompt and great to work with leading up to the wedding. They went out of their way to help me my wedding week and did much to alleviate all my stresses that weekend. The drivers are also such great people. I have been on other trolleys and no one compares to Newport Travel! They are so friendly and so kind - from helping my grandmother get on and off the trolley to helping me bring things to the church and beyond. On our wedding day it turned cold and rainy quite fast. I wanted to do outdoor photos on the beach but felt that I couldn't ask my friends to stand outside and freeze with me. Knowing how important it was, Russ drove the long way to the venue so I had enough time to think it over. I changed my mind, took the photos and they are by far and away the best photos of the day. They would not have been possible without Russ! A million thanks to Newport Travel! You must, must have them for your wedding day (if they are available!)!
