Overview

For ages 5 and up, this approx 90-min tour is an "overview" tour of scenic Newport.

After boarding our luxurious and comfortable trolley at platform #2 of the Newport Transit Center, your driver starts the tour with a brief history of Colonial-era downtown and explains the Gilded Age history and events that occurred over the centuries.

Then you will experience breath-taking views of scenic Ocean Drive prior to seeing the strip of mansions lining Bellevue Ave. Along the route, movie and TV sets will come to life, such as HBOs The Gilded Age, Hocus Pocus 2, The Great Gatsby, Amistad, True Lies, and a dozen more.

Today's happenings are also thoroughly covered such as the best dining spots, boat tours, and other fun activities. Your tour guide will detail the best way to navigate this bustling city as well as explain the Cliff Walk attractions.

The duration of this tour is 70-90 minutes, depending on traffic conditions
This tour departs promptly at scheduled time. We cannot hold the trolley for stragglers. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to departure. We may sell the seats of passengers who are not on time to others who are waiting on standby
There are no refunds to passengers who arrive late and miss the tour
Our drivers have updated manifests on their smart phones. Cancelled tickets are not accepted for admission
Youth under 17 must be accompanied by an adult
The trolley is not handicapped accessible. Driver may assign seating based on customer's physical needs
There are no longer any covid restrictions. All seats and rows are utilized and face coverings are not required

Very informative way to see all of Newport. The tour guide did a great job explaining the history and giving us great views of the town.

Carlos was a knowledgeable and informative host! He was able to clearly put into reference the background on Newport and Rhode Island and then honed in on the history of the Guilded Age and the specifics if the mansions. Advise to travelers: sit in the back row. Don't worry about not being able to hear. Carlos used a headset microphone and the speakers were directly overhead. The back row offers more legroom and you get better pictures as the trolly pulls away. Highly recommend.

We booked the trolley tour for a group of five. Carlos was our driver/guide. It was very busy that day, and Carlos went above and beyond to accommodate us. A good tour guide can make all the difference in your experience, and that was definitely the case here. Carlos was friendly, informative and funny and obviously enjoys his job. It was apparent that he is well read on his subject and that he continues to learn about it. The tour includes so much information along with the beautiful scenery. We could not have been happier with this tour, mainly thanks to Carlos.
