I'm a food tour fan and have been on some pretty good food tours over the years, but the Rhode Island Red Food Tour of a historical neighborhood in downtown Newport is on a whole other level. Kudos to Paula for creating and conducting this tour - you will definitely have a great experience and get your money's worth twice over. First, the food. No tiny samples here - at each stop you are getting full servings. I had a delicious hotdog covered with slaw, a piece of artisan pizza, a pair or awesome pork ribs, a glass of lemonade (others had a glass of craft beer), a huge oatmeal cookie and a dessert eggroll filled with cream and covered in berries. Each place we visited was different, we were welcomed in and had our own seating area and many of the spots were very special - for instance a back area at Mudville Pub with a bird's eye view of the baseball field. Amazing! In between Paula gave us a running commentary of the neighborhood from colonial times to the present, with updates on historic preservation plans in the works. Paula's talks were informative, detailed and designed to get you interested in learning more about Newport history and architecture. I'm a history buff and I've been coming to Newport and going on tours for 20 years, but I learned a number of things from Paula I never knew about Newport. I will go on this tour again the next time I'm in Newport for sure!

I went on this food tour with my family in early September. The food was excellent and diverse! Paula was great, she made sure to tell us the story behind the restaurants and she focused on local businesses. While we were enjoying the wonderful food, Paula also gave us a historic tour of Newport. Highly recommend! I've been on several food tours in NYC, Chicago, and ATL and this one was by far my favorite.

I stumbled upon Trip Advisor's reviews of Rhode Island Red Food Tour while planning my friend's bachelor party weekend in Newport. I wanted an activity that allowed our group of friends to move around and enjoy some local eateries. The reviews I read highly recommended RI Red Food Tours and seemed like it would be a fun and different activity to include on our itinerary for the weekend. The 8 of us had a fantastic experience with Paula on her tour. The "tastings" at each stop, were full servings, absolutely delicious, and unique. We were able to taste foods we might have never discovered on our own. Every stop was smoothly transitioned to and Paula filled the stroll with interesting historical facts about RI as well as the restaurants/cafes on our tour. Paula was an awesome tour guide who really showed us a part of Newport that created some wonderful memories for our group of friends. I HIGHLY recommend this food tour; it is definitely a must! ~Maria
