My wife and I very much consider ourselves "foodies" so when we moved to Rhode Island this past Summer we knew we had our work cut out for us finding the best food around. Luckily for us we found Rhode Island Red Food Tours. Paula was an amazing guide, not just for the food but for the history and culture of Newport and Rhode Island as a whole. She brought us to a wide variety of unique off-the-beaten-path type of restaurants, each one better than the last. They provided us with very generous portions of their best food and we left there feeling very full. I would recommend this tour to both locals and tourists alike, we were a mix of both and we absolutely loved it. We can't wait to sit down at ALL of these places again for a full meal, they were ALL that good! In fact we already took her advice and revisited a local bar she pointed out, and what a great choice that was!

Introduction to some great, off the beaten path restaurants. Interesting choices for sampling, some great (calamari) and some unusual (sweet ribs from a mexican restaurant?). Local history and architecture tour was a great plus. Constructive suggestion: it might help to make food descriptions build up to what will be served on the tour that day. This is obviously paraphrasing and didn't happen at most places, but hearing "they have amazing chocolate cakes and raspberry tortes; we're having a raisin oatmeal chocolate chip cookie" creates a sense of disappointment about a cookie that was actually above average for a cookie. Overall a great afternoon that gave a taste of the real Newport.

Really enjoyed this walking/food tour. We were exposed to a totally different side of Newport with a local flavor. Paula's expertise and knowledge of the area made the tour very enjoyable. Her choice of restaurants was excellent and diverse. We went back to several of the restaurants we had experienced on the tour and enjoyed the food and drink even more! A great way to spend an afternoon.
