The offerings were varied (from fried green tomatoes to root beer-braised short ribs to unique sweets), the food was plentiful, and the bits of Newport history riddled throughout were icing on the cake, so to speak. This three-hour tour doesn't require too much walking (just enough to make you feel refreshed) and yet you get to see a side of Newport that most visitors might not come across. I was thrilled that this food tour didn't lead us into any of the highly popular tourist traps. Rather, we were lead on foot to some lesser known gems, many of which I'll be returning to for full meals!

The food was so good, we thought we'd need to go on a diet after. The she was really knowledgeable about Newport, setup all the stops, and it lasted a couple of hours. Since my group was just my wife and I she made an extra stop and hit 6 places instead of 5. Really like a personal tour for us. Best place to eat: Perro Salado - the ribs were amazing!. The Mudville pub was nice too if you like a secret view of the local ball games (plan your visit during a game). This was our first time in Newport. If you do this tour, you should do it on your first day there, so you know the best places to eat after (unfortunately, we did it on our last day). We also ate at Picasso Pizza, Corner Cafe, Mission (great burgers), Midtown Oyster bar, and White Horse Tavern (good for ghost stories around Halloween), food was not too bad either. This would be a good trip for a small group (less than 10). be prepared to to do a few of miles of walking, with plenty of breaks to rest and/or eat.

Looking for something to do on a cool day in Newport, we stumbled onto a flyer about a Food Tour. It was really fun. We had an opportunity to taste foods from restaurants that never would have otherwise been on our radar in Newport. We also received a nice tour of the history of Newport and got a bit of exercise as well. It was a great experience.
