My husband and I enjoyed the 10 am tour departing from the Newport Visitors Center. We chose to reserve tickets in advance online but could have purchased them at the Visitors Center at which there is paid parking. Have your parking ticket stamped at the Center, and the first half hour will be free. The tour was 90 minutes, and Dominic, our driver/guide was very knowledgeable about Newport and the beautiful mansions and vistas we drove by. We find that trolley tours point out sights we would typically walk by or miss altogether, and this tour did not disappoint. For an overview of Newport, I recommend the Viking Trolley Tour.

We decided on the Overview Tour because we wanted to get our bearings about the key areas of Newport without committing to anything. This tour is one of the cheapest as well ($25/pp) but takes you through the Mansions and the sea walk areas. You'll get a bit of history as well. With that knowledge we then made our decisions as to what Mansions to visit and where to drive. Best $25 we ever invested

We arrived on a cruise with no plans for the visit to Newport. Went down to the visitors center and picked up this tour. Our driver gave tons of local info on the history and the mansions. Covered both city and coastal areas. No getting on or off, but lots of quick stops and pauses for photos.
