We drove up Bellevue Ave. where all the mansions are located on our own. We had tickets To the houses open in the winter but decided to do the trolley tour before touring on our own. So glad we did. Our guide was Ray, retired history teacher who was born in Newport. He was fantastic. We learned and saw so much that we would have completely missed. He had great insider information which made it that more interesting. Nice for everybody to sit back and see and enjoy everything when normally someone has to drive the car. I got the mansion tickets on my own online. Now that I did the overview we can do those on our own. But some people on the tour got 2 house tickets as well and they got off to be picked up later. Highly recommend.

A great overview of the sites in Newport. Our trolley driver/ guide is a native of Newport and adds so much personal bits that makes the tour that much more interesting. Driving yourself down Ocean Drive doesn’t tell you about the homes, the beach clubs and history that you learn from a guide. There are options to visit some of the mansions and if you only want to visit one or two this is the way to do it. The tour is well worth the fee.

This was a superb 105 minute tour commencing at the visitor centre where tickets can be purchased. The trolley was a great reproduction vehicle with driver who was also the guide .he was extremely knowledgeable with a mountain of information about Newport and all the fantastic houses one passed en roué. He was a brilliant guide.
