What To Expect

The Breakers

Tour includes Admission to ONE of the following Newport Mansions: The Breakers, The Marble House, or Rosecliff. The Breakers is the grandest of Newport's summer "cottages" and a symbol of the Vanderbilt family's social and financial preeminence in turn of the century America. *As of January 3, 2022 all Preservation Society of Newport Mansions are requiring proof of vaccines for all children aged 5 and up. As of January 15, 2022 all adults must also show proof of their Booster Vaccines. This policy is No Exceptions!

What a wonderful introduction and overview of Newport. We had beautiful weather and Ray, our guide, was a local and retired history school teacher who was full of knowledge and personal experiences of growing up in Newport. He was easy to understand and made the trip so interesting. Things we would never had known on our own- like who owns some of the summer houses now and who built them and when. Fabulous to think of such wealth and parties for the short summer season. Tour ended with a visit to the Breaker's. WOW! We even saw some of the filming of the new HBO series being filmed there- "The Gilded Age." Can't wait to see it after being right there! Best value and history lesson all in one.

The trolley tour of Newport was well worth the money. Our tour guide Ray was terrific. His knowledge of the area and side stories of growing up in Newport were interesting and entertaining.
