Wish I could give this tour more than 5 stars. Tom and Sue, our guides, were friendly, informed, and personable. We went to small, off the beaten path, establishments and had excellent food-- not just samples. As we walked from one establishment to the next, they shared stories of the history and culture of the area. All in all a wonderful day in Newport.

Food tours are about more than just eating. This history and culture of a place shape its food, and a good food tour puts the cuisine of a place in the context of the history of a locale and its people. And this tour not only does an excellent job of explaining the long history of Newport, from its colonial founding, through the Gilded Age, including the various immigrant groups who have made Newport such a vibrant town. Tom and Sue are friendly, knowledgeable, and fun, and they share their knowledge of history and love of food generously. If you love history and enjoy good food, you definitely want to check out this tour.

It was an excellent little excursion into Newport. Tom and Sue were absolutely lovely and knowledgeable about the city. The tour mostly centered around the Irish quarter and some of the local restaurants near that area. The food was excellent and they end the tour with a fun little stop for an adult beverage (or virgin ones for those unable to drink). I’d highly recommend this for anyone new to the area or to anyone who just wants to try something new! 10/10 would do again.
