At 51 years old I've done a few things but NOTHING comes close to swimming with manta rays. Hang Loose has a nice little tour with a payoff of coming within inches of these enormous beauties of the ocean. Fair warnings...
1. There was a bit more talking from the captain than we expected. Capt Simon was pretty funny and I'm sure some of his banter was just time filler while the crew was getting chores done, but still...more sitting and listening than I expected.
2. The ride out is a bit bumpy. The boat goes approx 25mph and Capt Simon warned us that there would be several people who would get motion sick. He was right!
3. The ride out lasted about 25 mins. Then it took another 10-15 mins to get everything prepped for getting in the water.
4. Hang Loose provides wetsuit jackets, life jackets, pool noodles and all the snorkeling gear. They also provided water, soda, juice and snacks.
5. The mantas were AMAZING!! I can't even describe the feeling of having a 14 foot ray swim within inches of your face!!
6. Your shoulders will get tired! You don't have to be a good swimmer to do this though.
