We saw a lot of mantas right away, but 2 families ruined it. One lady had never snorkeled before and was kicking and panicking instead of laying flat . Her family trying to help her caused a huge commotion . Then another family with 2 small kids , one was a 3 year old. She had no idea and was crying and also kicking, the boy was not a good swimmer either and actually kicked a mantra treading water. Very frustrating!! Then the mantas left and we sat there looking at plankton for 20 minutes. Who goes snorkling for the first time ever at night in pure darkness in deep water with huge fish ?! They should not allow people who canāt swim or kids under 13- they ruined an expensive experience. While the captain was nice, he never explained how to use the pool noodles to keep legs up (dangling legs scare the mantas) so part of the issue was the lack of explaining that piece. For $480 for our family to do this I was disappointed with the other people who had no idea what to do and were so disruptive they scared the mantas away. Donāt do this if you are not a good swimmer. Practice with a mask and snorkel at a beach or pool before this!!!
