This experience was so special. There were so many mantas around they had a harder time setting up the boats because the mantas would get too close to where they needed to be. Once we were in the water, as soon as you put your head down you saw mantas everywhere, and once you get to their rig that you hold onto, they get so close to you that they accidentally slap you with their fins sometimes. Nothing painful, and now I get to say I got slapped in the stomach by a giant manta ray. Truly a unique experience that I would do again and again to see these gentle giants.
For anyone who gets motion sick, my friend has severe motion sickness but really wanted to do this activity so she took Dramamine, ate ginger chews, and even wore these ridiculous equilibrium goggles. She still got very motion sick and almost hurled but was able to barely pull it together. Would she put herself through that again? Hell yeah she would, it's just that good.
