NOLA Urban Culture City Tour

Overview
New Orleans is more than a city—it’s a living testament to the resilience, culture, and influence of African, Creole, and Indigenous peoples who shaped its very soul. This tour takes you on a powerful journey from the roots of enslavement to the thriving culture that defines the city today.

Walk in the footsteps of those who endured and overcame, from the slave quarters where their struggles began to the vibrant streets where their legacy lives on. Stand in Congo Square, where enslaved Africans preserved their traditions through music and dance—laying the foundation for jazz, Second Lines and traditional celebrations. See historic landmarks tied to resistance, the rise of Black entrepreneurship, and the modern-day icons who continue to shape New Orleans’ identity.

From the echoes of the past to the resilience seen in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, this tour connects history to the present in a way that’s both eye-opening and unforgettable.

Great insight on black culture in New Orleans; from arrival in North America to present day. So sad that so many Americans don’t know their history and don’t care to learn it.

As a 17 year old, this tour was very informative and easy to digest. Our tour guide showed photos and videos as we went through the tour, which created an immersive experience. We stopped at places such as Studio B, and spoke to locals as well. Overall, this was an amazing experience and I’m so glad I was able to learn more about this city!

best tour in New-Orleans. I learned a lot about the history of the Black people in Louisiana. In the bus, they showed photos, archives, music, maps, etc. to explain the content of the speech.
