NOLA Urban Culture City Tour

Overview
New Orleans is more than a city—it’s a living testament to the resilience, culture, and influence of African, Creole, and Indigenous peoples who shaped its very soul. This tour takes you on a powerful journey from the roots of enslavement to the thriving culture that defines the city today.

Walk in the footsteps of those who endured and overcame, from the slave quarters where their struggles began to the vibrant streets where their legacy lives on. Stand in Congo Square, where enslaved Africans preserved their traditions through music and dance—laying the foundation for jazz, Second Lines and traditional celebrations. See historic landmarks tied to resistance, the rise of Black entrepreneurship, and the modern-day icons who continue to shape New Orleans’ identity.

From the echoes of the past to the resilience seen in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, this tour connects history to the present in a way that’s both eye-opening and unforgettable.

The tour was very informative and from an African American viewpoint. Dennis our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of New Orleans - right down to the pronunciation of it - ( won't do a spoiler alert 😂). Myself and friend travelled from London on a recommendation to do this particular urban tour - it did not disspoint. Highly recommended tour. Thank you Dennis from your two London friends. We love your accent too 😂!

Jay is an outstanding tour guide! This tour isn't about just seeing the sites, it's transformative. The tour gives insight into the lifeblood of the city and what makes New Orleans culture and history. I first took this tour with my sisters in November 2023 when I moved to the city, and I continue to take the tour whenever I have out of state visitors - it's that good! The tour is so powerful that our university sponsored two tour buses for students and staff, I was on that tour as well! What makes this tour incredible? Jay - the unique insights from a New Orleanian born and raised, the authenticity, the history, resilience, and extensive knowledge, the dedication and clear enthusiasm and passion for introducing tourists to this beautiful, unique city! I tour internationally and interstate, this is hands down the best tour I've ever done. Don't miss out!
