Nola Voodoo Walking Tour with High Priestess Guide in New Orleans

Overview
The majority of the Voodoo tours in the city are offered by those who are either non-initiates, or those who do not have the lineage to support their understanding and service to the religion.
This is the only Voodoo tour offered in New Orleans that is lead by High Priestesses of Louisiana Plantation Vodou. Eshé/Mary J. can trace her lineage to Louisiana as far back as the late 1700's, and Malika/Osheyo Amanzi can trace her bloodline back to the coast of Virgina and the Carolinas, home of the Gullah-Geechee who have their own West African-based religions.

We learned a lot about what Voodou is not, but above all, we got a great understanding of New Orleans/Lousiana Vodou roots, enslavement history, and related community relationships/evolution. It was super interesting - Thank you so much Eshé! I highly recommend this experience to anyone who really wants to understand the cultural side of Voodou.

I loved the amount of comparisons between what most people's knowledge of voodoo, and the actuality in vodou. I knew much of the representations in movies and such was wrong, but there were things that I still has wrong. My favorite tour of our trip. Good for those who don't wanna hear glossy fake touristity stuff, but really want to get a real accounting.
