Nola Voodoo Walking Tour with High Priestess Guide in New Orleans

Overview
The majority of the Voodoo tours in the city are offered by those who are either non-initiates, or those who do not have the lineage to support their understanding and service to the religion.
This is the only Voodoo/Vodou tour offered in New Orleans that is lead by a High Priestess of Louisiana Plantation Vodou. Malika/Osheyo Amanzi has additional initiations as an Isefa and Olorisa. Her bloodline can be traced back to the coast of Virgina and the Carolinas, home of the Gullah-Geechee who have their own West African-based religions, as well as Nigeria and Kenya.

This tour was very informative. High Priestess EshĆØ gave lots of insight into the history, culture and misinformation surrounding Vodou. Highly recommended. This is a tour where you tip what you think it was worth.

I took the walking tour with Malika. It was an amazing experience. She has so much knowledge to share. This tour completed my trip to New Orleans. My teenaged daughter enjoyed this tour as well and she’s not much of a walker.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the tour! The walk is easy to do with all the amazing ambience that is New Orleans, not to mention the stories. It always feels like walking through a movie set, doesn't it? Thanks so much for the review, and I hope we see you next time you're in town!

You have to do this! I NEVER write reviews, but I’ve been on walking tours all over the world (I’m a nerd) and these were THE BEST tours I’ve ever been on! This is what real magic looks like! I went on the Voodoo Tour (which is actually called Vodou🤯), the cemetery tour, and the Treme tour. These tours became most of our trip! I came in for a conference and made some friends at the conferences. We went to this restaurant near our hotel after the conference and our waiter gave us a business card for this brand new tour company (Anansi’s Daughters) where the tour guides are LEGIT High Priestesses of Vodou! The guides are members of his Vodou family!!! We were intrigued and IT WAS INCREDIBLE! New Orleans (NOLA) history is fascinating, and when it comes to the cemeteries, completely insane šŸ˜‚. I’m bringing my friends back here in October so we can do and redo more tours with this company! Next time I’m also doing their Garden District and ghost tours, and one of our guides, EshĆ©, said they have a tour where they’ll just talking about the spirits of Vodou in the works too 🄳

From nerd to nerd, we’re so glad you found us! We gotta stick together! 🤣 We love telling all the stories we come across, and it’s a pleasure to share them with people as thirsty as we are for the magic that is New Orleans. Definitely look us up next time you come to town!
