North Santiam Whitewater Rafting

Overview

From the put-in at Packsaddle Park off Highway 22, the river offers boulder-dodging and forested scenery. After passing below the Gates bridge, get ready for the most exciting stretch of river.

Spencer's Hole, Class III+, requires punching through a hole by running center-right into the rapid. Just downstream comes an island and a sweeping, left-to-right drop of Carnivore, Class III. The final rapid is Mill City Falls (Class III), a large drop below Mill City Bridge.

If you're kayaking, park your car and set up the take-out at Mill City Bridge. If you're rafting, take out a mile downstream at Fishermen's Bend Recreation Site boat ramp.

The paddle from Fishmen's Bend to North Santiam Park is very nice, with easier Class II/III rapids.

Full day tour. The guide was experienced. No one fell out. They took great photos of us going through a class III area. Leave your camera and phone at home. They got you. Went sept 30, 2022. Water was cold. Wear their wetsuit and shoes. Food was more than I expected, very nice. 3 first timers went.

We had a group of 12 people and booked 2 hour trip on the Santiam river. Our guide Calvin and his friend took a good care of us since we had a bigger group! It was such a fun trip for all of us, even though the river was little bit chillier, some of us jumped into it, it was so awesome! They knew what they were doing, had some amazing rapids and their commands made the experience even better! The cliff jump at the end was the best way to end the trip! Thank you Chris for photos also! Thank you guys!

This trip was perfect for our family, as we have a 7 and 12 year old. I would definitely recommend Calvin! He was very knowledgeable and experienced in his skill with rafting. The pictures that they captured of us were a great treat at the end! Enjoy!
