North Shore Macadamia Nut Company
Next to Historic Haliewa Town lies a hidden culinary gem, a local Macadamia shop that finds itself tucked away under the comforting shade of an aged Banyan tree. The macadamia nuts here are sourced from the foothills of Oahuā€™s tallest peak, Mt. Kaala, from an orchid comprising of over 1200 macadamia nut trees on 24 acres. These are the freshest macadamia nuts on the whole island of Oahu, creating a wonderful edible experience as you continue your day trip into the history of Hawaiian agriculture. Other culinary delights located here include authentic North Shore Acai Bowls or tasty Kona coffee samples.
6
Haleiwa Town Center
Your last stop on the North Shore is a step back in time to one of Oahuā€™s oldest towns. Originally built as a home for immigrant sugar plantation workers, Haliewa is now a quaint surf town, filled with a variety of boutique shops, surf shops, and shaved ice stops. As time has passed, the state has set up architectural guidelines requiring the design of existing buildings and newly erected buildings to reflect the plantation-style architecture of the early years of Haleiwaā€™s sugar industry which makes it a refreshing stop away from the bustling streets and tall buildings of Waikiki.
7
King Kamehameha Statue
Before returning to Waikiki and dropping off the guests, our guide will stop to see the King Kamehameha Statue. A perfect way to tie in some additional Hawaiian history on top of the agricultural lineage that they have just experienced through the day on the North Shore Dole Pineapple Tour.

Our tour started at about 710 when we got onto the tour bus. Our guide for the day was Jay. After picking up the last of the group we headed off. One of Jay's first questions was if anyone went to the zoo. We had, he made jokes about how the animals are never out and always hidden. My daughter was by far the youngest on the tour and she commented that while the zoo was eh... ours back home is much worse. Jay told us about the trees, banana plants, mango trees and alot of history of the island. We stopped at a coffee farm first which was a cute little place. I wasn't too impressed with the coffee here but it was okay. My family of 3 tried 3 different coffee drinks and again eh. From there we saw the inner workings of the dole plantation and this was nothing short of remarkable. It was worth it just for this trip. Jay was friendly with the older ladies in the front of the bus but seating location is important. For us at the back of the bus, he didn't pay us any attention which was fine because we were able to meet an incredible gentleman and his son. After seeing the inside of the dole facility where they have quality control and hand pick the pineapples into different categories, we were able to purchase shirts and grab ourselves our own pineapple to take home in a cute carry case. We then headed into the fields and saw not only the planting but the harvest. From here it was to banyans for lunch. I wasn't too impressed with lunch, and didn't care for the food but others enjoyed it. Now if you want coffee, behind banyans is a small soap factory but off to the left is a shopping area and they had amazing coffee. Free to sample along with other small gifts. This is where we almost missed the bus. My daughter was stamping her soap she purchased and apparently I wasn't looking at the time but another family on our bus. Check the time!!! We made it, so off to the beach. We found the turtles and saw impressive waves of North shore. Highlight number 2 of our tour. Jay had a great sense of humor and wouldn't leave anyone however he did like to play around and make it fun so when one person was just not paying attention sharing the waves with ppl back home he played a trick. Everyone including the young man laughed. We went through another town that has no neon signs all hand painted made of wood and it was cool. We stopped for shave ice (a must try!!!) And shopping. My daughter buys all her own souvenirs with money she makes or is given throughout the year so she went a little crazy at one of the stores. We went to the Macadamia nut farm and tried all different kinds. Try them all (unless your allergic) plus Macadamia coffee samples!!!! Again great coffee!!! Once we boarded our last stop was the king Kamehameha statue. I had wanted to see this one so it was a treat. He told us history of the great king and why he is important to the culture. On this tour you really are ohana

Really enjoyed the tour. Rocky was the best tour guide I have ever had and I've been on many day tours in the past. He showed us lots of different places and even stopped in additional places where possible (which weren't part of the tour but he showed us anyway). Would thoroughly recommend.
