Chena Hot Springs Resort
After wandering through the cool museum, don your bathing suit and enjoy the resort’s legendary namesake. The revitalizing mineral water soothes muscles with its warm temperatures of 106 degrees F (41 degrees C) year-round. You can also soak under the stars in an outdoor hot tub, or indoors in the heated pool. In between, slip away to the Aurora Café or the historic Resort Restaurant, where you can purchase meals, snacks, or beverages. When ready, join your expert guide for a small-group outing to view the Aurora Borealis. Your guide will lead you through one of the best places on earth to witness the green and purple illuminations loop across the night sky. Wait and witness the celestial wonder with hot beverages in the late evening, when viewing opportunities are the highest. The lights are also visible inside the cafe's Aurora Room, which serves as a comfortable and warm location for viewings. Note: We can never guarantee the Northern lights sighting.

Great trip all around. Our tour guide, Bob, was friendly and knowledgable and gave us extra info about Alaskan culture. The facilities were spotless, the Chena staff were great. The trip would have been amazing on its own but seeing the aurora on the way home was the icing on the cake. Highly recommend this company and trip!

GUIDE: Lynley was excellent and very knowledgable. She was funny and excited for conversations. ICE MUSEUM Was fun, especially if you appreciate art and the hard work of the artists. HOT SPRINGS: personally, they were the highlight of my trip (even though I initially booked the trip for the northern lights). I was ready to spend the rest of my life in the water! haha (warning: never take your flip-flops and towel outside. They will freeze! Keep your towel in the locker and your flip-flops in the indoor pool area) NORTHERN LIGHTS: Although the KP index was pretty low (2) and we were at the end tail of the aurora band, Lynley made sure that we would see it. She could spot the faint low light. FOOD: there was a restaurant in the resort, but my friend and I decided not to waste any time and headed straight to the water. We packed our snack and ate them at the pool house. There was also a drinking water fountain at the pool house, so we could fill our water bottles.

We felt that our whole tour was extremely lucky. We were picked up on time with another twosome from our hotel. The ice museum was fun and the apple-tini really good. Dinner afterwards was wonderful and good value. The hotsprings was so romantic and we felt like we had the place to ourselves. We got to check off a bucket list item of soaking in a natural bath while our hair and lashes were frozen atop. The true highlight and bucket item was to witness the play of the northern lights in person. It was cloudy all day and the index was low but our guide, Suzy, brought us out into the dark night at just the right time. We stopped at multiple places with all good views of the aurora borealis and Suzy was good enough to capture the lights for us on her dslr, which I didn’t bring. She allowed us to experience a magical night. Thank you!
