Chena Hot Springs Resort
After wandering through the cool museum, don your bathing suit and enjoy the resort’s legendary namesake. The revitalizing mineral water soothes muscles with its warm temperatures of 106 degrees F (41 degrees C) year-round. You can also soak under the stars in an outdoor hot tub, or indoors in the heated pool. In between, slip away to the Aurora Café or the historic Resort Restaurant, where you can purchase meals, snacks, or beverages. When ready, join your expert guide for a small-group outing to view the Aurora Borealis. Your guide will lead you through one of the best places on earth to witness the green and purple illuminations loop across the night sky. Wait and witness the celestial wonder with hot beverages in the late evening, when viewing opportunities are the highest. The lights are also visible inside the cafe's Aurora Room, which serves as a comfortable and warm location for viewings. Note: We can never guarantee the Northern lights sighting.

Lady Aurora can be a bit unpredictable. Glad you appreciated Jake as much as we do.

Trip Advisor makes it difficult to review two different tours by the same company but I need to express my thanks to Bob for an enjoyable tour out to Chena Hot Springs. We did have a fun group touring the Ice Museum, having dinner, and taking a soak before stepping out in the cold to chase the Northern Lights. Thanks for getting us home safely to Fairbanks.

Wonderful experience and highly recommend! Caleb was our guide, and he did a great job explaining things as we drove to the hot springs. We saw a mother & baby moose along the way, and he backed up so we could take photos. Our ride was very enjoyable as he talked about the Alaskan way of life (plugging in cars and the difference between damp & dry homes, etc.). He was very communicative about our pick up time, and was prompt. SUV was very clean and comfortable. He also gave us a tour and the scoop on the Chena Resort. Not sure if it was because it was during the week or because of COVID, but my mom & I were the only ones on the tour (which was very nice!). If you have flexibility, choose a weeknight as the locals go to the springs on weekends (more crowded). The hot springs and ice museum are on the same property, and both were very enjoyable. We left as soon as we were ready to go out and look for the Northern Lights, which was before 10pm (seems most groups wait until 10:30-11pm before leaving). We only got a sliver of the aurora, but we did see it! It was the new moon, but a little cloudy. Caleb was very patient in trying to find the sliver we did see, and he helped us adjust our iPhone camera to get the most of the lights. We are very happy with our experience. Thank you for making my birthday evening so enjoyable!!!
