From being given your boarding tokens to stepping off the Clipper,it was wonderful! Staff were friendly and engaging. We were encouraged to help with the ropes to rise the sails, which was great fun ! The weather helped because the Sun was shining, there was a trumpet player, playing jazz, the bar was open and the Clipper was a fine specimen of a ship, plus we had amazing views of the Statue of Liberty and the wonderful New York sky line.

Not the ship pictured, there was a tall ship nearly twice as big on the next pier. Between asking for help raising sails at the start & asking for tips at the end, nobody said 1 word. A little description of what we sailed past is needed. Never saw the captain. Not nearly enough seats, those in the middle can barely see & if you move around the ship, you either lose your seat or argue w whoever took it. You have to hunt for departure point, at the end of pier 17 w no signs anywhere. Weather was perfect the day I went. It is a short booze cruise w no tour guide, but you are on a sailboat to the Statue of Liberty, so not all bad.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It is important to understand where we fell short on providing you with the service and experience you expected. Unfortunately, it is a busy pier and we are not given the opportunity to provide much in the way of directional signage.. Because it is a busy pier and can be confusing, we ask that give yourself ample time to find us & you use the directions we provide in your booking confirmation email. While we have a full cocktail bar with 8 flavors of beer on tap, we are a traditional sailing ship and do not advertise ourselves as a ā€˜booze cruise’ — in fact, because we are a working sailboat, we discourage uncontrolled drinking and do not serve shots of liquor, to avoid that type of environment. As a traditional working sailboat, it would ruin the vessel if we tried to provide a bench seat for each guest. There are adequate surfaces to sit on — deck and lifejacket boxes, hatch covers, and comfortable railings to lean on as you wander about the largest operational passenger sailboat in NY. The other boat you mentioned is a non-operational museum boat of the South Street Seaport museum. I encourage you to go see it and marvel at the scale of sailing ships that once filled the busiest harbor in the world. We work to get our salty sailors to understand that they are in the hospitality business and that is an important point that we will continue to work on improving! Thank you for your feedback. It is truly helpful!
