This was so fun! The staff was great about explaining what they were doing and the general operation of the ship. I tried to help raise the sails, that is hard work, glad it's not my job. The view was amazing. I enjoyed watching the docking process - WOW! I would definitely do it again.

We visited on a warm Sunday lunchtime. There were probably only a couple of dozen people on our boat as we cast off. Before we set off, we were given a brief but friendly introduction to the boat and the crew. Once on the water, the crew raised the sails and we enjoyed a leisurely cruise around the harbour to get close to the Statue of Liberty and also Ellis Island. With the restricted numbers on board, there is plenty of space to walk around and get the photos that you want. There is background music playing but this is not intrusive and there is a small but well stocked bar on board as well as providing free iced water. It is such a relaxing way to not only view the islands but also just to enjoy some peaceful time away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There is no commentary although the crew are happy to try and answer questions if you have any. It is a little more expensive than some of the other companies who offer cruises around the statue but it is well worth the extra. We passed many of the ferry type vessels around where you have several hundred people crammed across a couple of floors, all looking longingly at our boat and wishing they had joined us instead. If you want to try and get a photo while on the marine equivalent of a rush hour subway carriage then book one of the ferries. If you want a relaxing, spacious trip with plenty of time to get the photos you want then book with Manhattan By Sail.

My family loved this cruise...kids had a blast. Weather was beautiful. Kids and adults help put up sails...great experience for the little ones.
