NYC Underground Subway Walking Tour

Overview
Explore the world’s largest subway system, the beating heart of the city that never sleeps. On this guided NYC subway tour you will discover the fascinating beginnings of the NYC subway, and explore spaces even the most seasoned commuter might not know about.

- Explore City Hall Park as the birthplace of the NYC subway system
- Learn about the comically short route of the mythical “Subway before the Subway,” Alfred Ely Beach’s Pneumatic Transit System
- See the architectural ghosts of the now nearly forgotten, and partially abandoned, Chambers Street station then nicknamed the “Grand Central of Downtown”
- Use the 6 train as your own time machine as you ride through abandoned subway stations
- Discover the remnants of Union Station as you learn about a hidden art installation thousands of riders walk by everyday

Guests will need one MetroCard swipe or OMNY tap to enter the subway.

All the stops on this tour are in stations which are publicly accessible.

Very informative tour of the NYC subway. Bonus points for providing us with a very learned (Masters educated in Architecture) tour guide. Even though I live locally, there were new things to discover and explore about the subway. I now have a new and different appreciation for the NYC subway. Thanks for the memories.

What a great way to learn more about a part of NYC's history. Our guide was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and very interesting. She helped us "see" life in lower Manhattan across the past ~120 years. Great way to spend an afternoon - especially on a cold and/or rainy day.

Did the NYC subway tour with Justin and I have to say it was fascinating . He kept the info coming, was never dull, kept us out of the cold and even the trains cooperated and we didn’t have long to wait. Would highly recommend this if you’re in NYC and have exhausted all the usual touristy things to do.
