Overview
Explore the world’s largest subway system, the beating heart of the city that never sleeps. On this guided NYC subway tour you will discover the fascinating beginnings of the NYC subway, and explore spaces even the most seasoned commuter might not know about.

- Learn about the comically short route of the mythical “Subway before the Subway,” Alfred Ely Beach’s Pneumatic Transit System
- See the architectural ghosts of the now nearly forgotten, and partially abandoned, Chambers Street station then nicknamed the “Grand Central of Downtown”
- Use the 6 train as your own time machine as you ride through abandoned subway stations
- Discover the remnants of Union Station as you learn about a hidden art installation thousands of riders walk by everyday

Guests will need one MetroCard swipe or OMNY tap to enter the subway.

Large part of the tour was in the subway stations and therefor next to impossible to follow because of the noise. The main attraction: the old City Hall station was a few seconds from the train: we had expected to really see it. All in all a disappointing experience although the guide was excellent.

We participated the tour with our 8 year old son who had been super interested in the NYC subway system. He was so excited and enjoyed every minute of the tour.

First off, huge shoutout to our tour guide Heather! She was so knowledgable and was able to answer every question! She also had the sweetest personality and was very funny throughout the tour! There is definitely a lecture with it but that lecture goes hand in hand with a great tour of the system! We never stayed in one place for more than 5-10 mins and you got to see old remnants of the system! I consider myself a subway expert but even I learned things that surprised me! A great afternoon and highly recommended to anyone that loves the subway!
