There’s a great knowledge of local food and mom & pop shops amidst all the big restaurants on the island. You’ll try some great stuff you didn’t know existed!

Expectation on this tour was Hawaiian local food and its history. Did not meet at all. We stopped by 4 places including a horrible fish market and a food court in H mart. Chatting in the van and stopped by the places and sampled the food the guide ordered. I have done some food tours other locations, however, I would not recommend this tour to anyone for sure.

Expectation on this tour was for local and cultural history abut the Hawaiian food. When I booked this tour, I checked the pictures of the tour. I did not have the bento box with fried fish on the top or sushi in the restaurant. No dragon fruit or small shell fish. We only had 2-3 items including the donut and pokes from the pictures. Stopped at 4 locations including a bakery, a horrible fish market ( I would not go there if I am Local ) the food court in H-mart and local shaved ice cream shop. Overall very disappointed. I would not recommend anyone who want to experience in local Hawaiian food. The value to the $ for this tour is not worthy.

Aloha Nadia! Thanks for your honest and detailed review. I’d like to clarify some of things you mentioned in your review. During your stop at the seafood market, we did offer two of the items that were in the bento box and we apologize that not everything in the box was available as all of the food on our tour is from small businesses and based on availability. The dragon fruit, sushi and small shell fish that you mentioned that were in the pictures were actually provided and uploaded by our guests (The pictures are under the tab “Traveler Photos” and we have no control over what they decide to upload as part of their review. I will make a suggestion to Viator and TripAdvisor to increase the font size as it may be hard to read! Regarding your comment about the horrible fish market; locals actually love Mr. Tamashiro’s mom and pop fish market that has been providing the local community fresh local fish and poke for the past 80+ years! We understand that it may be different than the traditional mainland fish markets but this is where we find the freshest local seafoods.
