Oak Alley Plantation and Large Airboat Swamp Tour from New Orleans

Overview
The Oak Alley plantation tour is one of the most magnificent plantation tours near New Orleans because of the 28 evenly spaced, huge Oak Trees that go from the river road to the Plantation House. The Greek Revival home dates back to 1837. Located on the grounds is a restaurant, blacksmith shop, Souvenir Shop and antique farm equipment. Next up is an airboat tour - hold onto your hat! Our New Orleans Airboat Swamp Tour is a high speed adventure that is part tour and part ride. Along the way, you will get a personal tour by your local Captain. Our airboats have stadium seating, so that the person in front of you does not obstruct your view. So, every airboat seat is great for experiencing the tour and viewing the wildlife.

If you're not staying at a hotel, make sure to confirm where your pickup is or it can be confusing. I enjoyed the airboat tour. Our guide Jason knew A LOT about the animals and environment surrounding the swamps. He made the time fly keeping us informed and entertained. The plantation was a bit underwhelming but there was a lot to learn about the owners, not so much about the slaves. Overall, I had a great time.

The Plantation was pretty, even though it was in the fall. The swamp tour was great! We got to see plenty of alligators, even though it was in November when the water is cooler for them to be out. They were out basking in the sun. šŸ˜ƒ At first, I thought they were fake as if they had placed them there. Eventually, we found some that actually moved. It was worth our time and had a excellent guide that was very informative. I felt safe and did not get scared from the boat ride, as I was apprehensive going in.
