Past and Present Chinatown and Surrounding Area

Overview
Explore NYC's Chinatown neighborhood by foot on a fascinating tour led by a local guide. As you stroll from site to site in this charm-laden area of the city, hear fun facts and tales about its rich history, culture, and even the people who were here before. Venture just outside the neighborhood and visit the final resting place of some of the earliest New Yorkers. Stop for photos at must-sees like Chatham Square, the site of Kimlau Square, and Confucious Plaza. See the oldest brick house in New York City. Explore the deliberately abnormally laid out thoroughfares which became known as one of the bloodiest streets in the world. Find out where generations of residents from all over the city came downtown to enjoy an authentic Chinese meal and the chicken who performed right beneath it. Plus explore the last remnants of New York City's most infamous slums.

Iā€™m a NY history lover but never really learned much about Chinatown. Iā€™m so glad I took this tour because I learned so much in about an hour! The tour guide was helpful, informative and told each piece of history in an easy to understand way. The best part was that after the tour, youā€™re close to a lot of great restaurants so I filled up on Dim sum!

Lots of interesting facts about the area and the tour guide even had photos to share with the group of what the neighborhood looked like years ago - before what it is today! It was cool to hear about all the gang activity on one particular street, and got to look around and find a place to stop for dinner! Tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and interesting!
