Exceeded our expectations, which were high. Janet was a knowledgeable, passionate, and compelling tour guide. Her appreciation for Conroy, his complexity as a man, son, brother, husband, father, and writer, as well as his humanity and generosity was apparent. Highly recommended. We went on this tour without knowing much about Pat Conroy (hadn't read any of his books) because we wanted something different. Our tour guide, Bill, did not disappoint - we learned a great deal about Pat Conroy's life and writings (will be buying several books), where he lived in Beaufort, what he did, and where his friends and mentors lived. Description of houses in the historical district was enlivened with stories about the actors and producers who lived in them during filming of films made of his stories, along with anecdotes of other films (Forest Gump, The Big Chill) made there. We also visited the National Cemetery and the Parish Church of St. Helena to see graves of several individuals influential in Pat Conroy's life. And getting to all these spots provided an excellent tour of Beaufort! All in all, a great learning experience and an afternoon well spent!

Our guide, Bill, was fantastic. There is probably nothing he doesn't know about the city of Beaufort. Before we began the tour, Bill asked us if there was anything in particular we wanted him to cover in the tour, for instance, history, movie locations, etc. We said we were not familiar with Pat Conroy, so not to concentrate on that aspect. Bill was so very informative and entertaining, that it would have been impossible not to have a great hour and a half. What a great tour!
